Move over, summer—a new school year is coming! Instead of just rolling into school with no plan, set yourself up for a whole year of success and fun times with these tips on how to get ready for school ahead of time instead of at the last minute. You and your child will appreciate this!

Get the Best Gear
What’s the smart way to shop for school supplies? During the first day of class most teachers will provide a list of supplies specific to their course needs and classroom requirements. Make sure to buy them the specified supplies, so that they'd be able to keep up with the class work and stay organized. Also check if your child’s school allows you to order the whole kit through a third party or Amazon. But remember to check with teachers and the school for any special requests or restrictions.

Lay Out Clothes for the Week
While you are anxiously awaiting your child’s first day of school, encourage him or her to start styling their outfits for the week. Get them to choose what to wear ahead of time to avoid last-minute indecision (just don't forget to check the weather at the last minute!).

Back-To-School Sleep Schedule
September is here! It’s time to help children re-establish a healthy back-to-school sleep schedule. The Wilson Elementary in Kenosha, Wisconson, posted a chart of optimal sleep times for children, and the guide went viral on Facebook. Based on your child's age, it tells you when you should put them to sleep so they get enough rest for the next day.

Make Homework Time Easier
An organized study area will help your children concentrate better when doing their homework. Giving them a creative homework space with a stocked tray of the essentials, like pencils, Post-its, binders and scratch paper makes study time simple and easier.

Ready, Set Breakfast
Eating breakfast can help kids stay alert and do better in class. Start their days with well-balanced, nutritious breakfasts that will keep them going throughout the day. Try an omelet, or a bowl of oatmeal topped with some fruit, something that will fill and fuel them up at the same time.
